Weichenbau Hall, Von Roll Site, Bern, Switzerland

The old industrial warehouse of the Weichenbau corporation was converted into a lecture hall for the University of Bern.

The floor, which expands through the hall, acts as a symbol for this public space and connects the hall with the surrounding area. For this reason, uniform lighting was installed for the floor. The original walls of the building were illuminated with a warm, yellow light to accentuate their age.

The exterior shell of the lecture hall is cast in shadows to strengthen the interior lighting and create the image of a box filled with glowing lining.
