Hotel Seidenhof Zürich, Zürich, Schweiz

The 4-star Hotel Seidenhof in downtown Zurich has 78 rooms, whose redesign was inspired by the 1920s. The traditional hotel features an impressive listed Art Nouveau façade. In addition to the boutique hotel, the building invites guests to relax at the bar and enjoy an innovative culinary experience from an open fire in the newly renovated restaurant.

The lighting design, with its stylistic luminaire shapes, transforms the lovingly designed rooms into a contemporary reminder of the “Golden Twenties” and guides the visitors with ist detailed concept.

To emphasize the structural rhythm of the façade, some of the vertical niches will be softly lit up. The very restrained nightly illumination together with the existing illuminated lettering at the beginning and end of the façade creates a unity in appearance and additionally accentuates the architecture.

The open kitchen and the restaurant area are tied together with soft ceiling light and accentuated with isolated islands of light.

The implemented LED technology was subject to increased requirements in terms of failure rate and colour rendering.

In order to keep the maintenance costs low, the planning focused on simple and good exchangeability in the lamps. The majority of the light sources were installed as “replacements”. This also applies to the “technical luminaires”, such as downlights.
