The master lighting plan for Karlsruhe deals, for the first time, with a comprehensive plan for the lighting of the municipality’s public areas, including street lighting. Printed in a handbook are all the lighting specifications (e.g. colour temperature, colour rendering, light distribution and contrast ratios, etc.) for the important outdoor areas of urban development. The lighting plan also serves as a manifest to preserve the various qualities in the municipal area at night by defining recommendations for lighting that go beyond those set forth by codes.
